System Engineer – Google Cloud Air-Gapped / Kubernetes – 100% Remote

Project overview

For our client, we are looking for an experienced System Engineer for the installation, deployment, and operation of an Air-Gapped Cloud Platform (GCA) in multiple data centers.

The Framework

Responsibilities

Deployment, installation, and operation of an Air-Gapped Cloud Platform (GCA) in multiple data centers

Administration of Kubernetes clusters and Linux systems

Configuration and management of network, storage, and server infrastructures

Administration and configuration of network components and network services

Setup and management of PKI and certificate infrastructures

Operation and configuration of service mesh and proxy technologies

Automation of administrative tasks using Bash, Python, and Ansible

Monitoring and analysis of the infrastructure using appropriate tools

Administration of virtualization solutions within Kubernetes

Requirements

GCA Infrastructure Operator Training (Google or comparable)

At least one independently performed GCA deployment according to operator documentation

5 years of experience in Kubernetes administration

5 years of experience in Linux administration, especially OS management, network, PXE boot, systemd/journalctl, containers, and namespaces

Experience with Bash or Python scripting

5 years of experience with network technologies such as switching, VLANs, subnetting, routing, DHCP, DNS, and TLS

3 years of experience with advanced network technologies such as VXLAN/EVPN, VRFs, OSPF, LLDP, and BGP

5 years of experience in hardware administration, including servers, storage, switches, firewalls, and out-of-band management

3 years of experience with PKI and certificate management

3 years of experience with Istio, Service Mesh, and Envoy Proxy

3 years of experience each with Ansible, Prometheus, Cilium, and Grafana/Loki

3 years of experience with virtualization in Kubernetes

3 years of experience with Scrum and ITIL

Special Requirements

Due to the client's security requirements, the following conditions apply:

German citizenship

Willingness for security clearance SÜ2

No staffing from the list of states within the meaning of § 13 Paragraph 1 Number 17 SÜG2 (according to client's specifications)
