Experienced System Engineer needed for a public administration in the canton of Lucerne to ensure the stable operation and further development of a versatile IT infrastructure. The role involves working in a well-coordinated infrastructure team, contributing expertise in virtualization, server operations, and automation.

Task
For a client, a public administration in the canton of Lucerne, we are looking for an experienced System Engineer On-Premises Platform to ensure the stable operation of a versatile IT infrastructure and actively shape its further development. You will work in a well-coordinated infrastructure team and contribute your experience in virtualization, server operations, and automation.
- Ensuring the stable, secure, and performant operation of the on-premises infrastructure, including monitoring and 2nd/3rd level support
- Operation and further development of virtualization environments with VMware and Proxmox VE
- Participation in the setup and expansion of the container platform with Red Hat OpenShift and Docker
- Administration, maintenance, and optimization of Windows and Linux servers
- Automation and standardization of recurring tasks using PowerShell, Ansible/AWX, and CI/CD pipelines
- Further development of monitoring, alerting, and dashboards for proactive platform operation
- Participation in migrations, lifecycle management, and infrastructure projects
- Creation and maintenance of technical documentation as well as knowledge transfer to the internal team

- Completed IT education (EFZ with further training, HF, FH, or comparable qualification)
- Several years of practical experience as a System Engineer or Platform Engineer in operating complex on-premises infrastructures
- Sound knowledge of virtualization technologies, especially VMware or comparable solutions
- Good knowledge of Windows Server and Linux
- Practical experience in automation with PowerShell, Ansible, or CI/CD
- Very good German language skills and understanding of Swiss German
- Team-oriented personality with clear communication and enjoyment of knowledge transfer
- Experience with container technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker
- In-depth knowledge of Ansible/AWX and monitoring solutions
- Knowledge of storage, SAN, and backup environments, e.g., Huawei Storage, Cisco SAN, Veeam, or NetVault
- Experience with Patch Management (WSUS, Azure Update Manager)
- Experience in public administrations or larger IT operations organizations
