System Engineer On-Premises Platform (60%)

Project overview

For our client in Lucerne, we are looking for a System Engineer on-Premises Platform (m/f/d), 60%, as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring stable, secure, and performant operation of the on-premises platform: Monitoring systems, analyzing and resolving issues in 2nd and 3rd level support
• Operation and further development of virtualization and container environments (VMware, Proxmox VE, Red Hat OpenShift), supporting migrations and renewals, and contributing to the expansion of the container platform
• Operation, maintenance, and further development of the Linux and Windows server environment
• Automation and standardization of recurring tasks with PowerShell, Ansible/AWX, and CI/CD pipelines
• Further development of monitoring and observability (alarms, dashboards) as a basis for proactive operation
• Participation in the lifecycle management of the platform infrastructure and in projects of the platform team in collaboration with internal departments and suppliers
• Creation and maintenance of operational documentation and standards, as well as knowledge transfer within the team

Requirements

Desired Experience:

Framework Conditions:

• Completed education in IT (apprenticeship with further training, HF/FH or equivalent)
• Several years of practical experience as an ICT System Engineer or Platform Engineer in operating on-premises infrastructures
• Sound knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Proxmox VE or comparable)
• Good knowledge of Windows Server and Linux
• Experience in automation (PowerShell, Ansible, CI/CD or comparable)
• Very good German skills, understanding Swiss German
• Conscientious, precise, and forward-thinking way of working, taking responsibility for assigned topics
• Clear communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Teamwork skills and willingness to transfer knowledge
• Experience with container technologies (Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)
• Experience with Ansible/AWX
• Experience with monitoring solutions
• Knowledge of backup technologies (Veeam, NetVault)
• Experience in public administration or comparable large IT operations
