- Define and evolve the target architecture and technical roadmap for one or more teams, aligning architectural direction with product goals while structuring and estimating work and identifying dependencies and risks early
- Design and document software and cloud architectures using appropriate patterns, including microservices, event-driven systems and modular monoliths, and produce architecture documentation such as C4 models, arc42 documentation and Architecture Decision Records
- Design and govern APIs and integrations, including REST, OpenAPI and AsyncAPI specifications, versioning, contract testing and event-streaming patterns
- Evaluate architecture and technology options through trade-off analysis, proofs of concept and make-or-buy assessments, and define non-functional requirements for scalability, resilience, performance and observability
- Plan and guide modernization, cloud migration and data architecture work, addressing data ownership, consistency models, migration approaches and cloud cost efficiency
- Guide and contribute to secure, maintainable software design and implementation across Java and Spring Boot, Kafka-based backend services, Angular and TypeScript front ends, and AWS environments, applying security by design and threat modeling
- Define and uphold coding standards, review practices and the Definition of Done, while making technical debt visible, prioritizing its remediation and improving engineering quality
- Lead technical collaboration through mentoring, coaching and delegation; make accountable decisions, resolve conflicts and build consensus; facilitate Event Storming, architecture reviews and refinement workshops; and represent the team to product owners, architecture boards, management and external partners
- Senior-level experience as a Tech Lead or Architect, with a strong software development background
- A T-shaped technical profile with broad skills across the stack and expert-level capability in at least one of Backend, Frontend, or Cloud
- Advanced knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Kafka, microservices, JUnit-based unit testing, and relational databases and SQL
- Advanced expertise in software architecture using Domain-Driven Design and hexagonal architecture, with advanced knowledge of event streaming with Kafka, CI/CD with GitLab, and AWS cloud; working knowledge of MongoDB/Atlas, Angular 17 or later with TypeScript, HTML and CSS, Scrum, and clean-code practices
- For a Cloud specialization, advanced expertise in AWS CDK and AWS services including API Gateway, Fargate, Lambda, VPC, ECR, Cognito, KMS, CloudWatch, and IAM; for a Frontend specialization, expert knowledge of Angular 17 or later with TypeScript, HTML, and CSS; for a Backend specialization, expert knowledge of the relevant backend technologies and skills specified in the profile
- Advanced IT-security knowledge, including security by design and threat modeling
- Expertise in architecture patterns and styles, including microservices, event-driven architecture, modular monoliths, and integration patterns, and in documenting architecture with arc42, the C4 model, and Architecture Decision Records
- Advanced cloud-architecture knowledge based on the AWS Well-Architected Framework, including serverless versus container-based approaches and multi-account setups; API design and governance covering REST, OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, versioning, and contract testing; and quality attributes and non-functional requirements such as scalability, resilience, performance, and observability
- Ability to evaluate architecture and technology through trade-off analysis, proofs of concept, and make-or-buy decisions, and experience with migration and modernization strategies such as the strangler fig pattern and cloud migration
- Working knowledge of data architecture, including data ownership, consistency models, and data migration, and of cloud cost awareness and FinOps
- Experience defining and enforcing coding standards, review practices, and a Definition of Done; making technical debt visible, prioritizing and reducing it; and developing target architecture and technical roadmaps for one or more teams
- Ability to provide technical leadership without formal line authority, mentor and coach developers, delegate effectively, make accountable decisions under uncertainty, resolve conflicts, build consensus, represent a team to stakeholders, and facilitate workshops such as Event Storming, architecture reviews, and refinements
- A structured, goal-oriented working style, including setting priorities and focusing on outcomes, planning and estimating work, identifying dependencies and risks early, explaining complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders, balancing technical choices with business goals, budget, and time, and escalating risks transparently
