Technical Product Owner

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner (part-time) for a group-wide data and BI project in the area of operational KPIs.

• Start: ASAP
• Duration: until the end of January 2027, option to extend
• Remote/On-Site: Hybrid, regularly on-site especially for workshops and meetings (VIENNA)
• Utilization: Part-time, 15–20 hours per week
• Operational technical project management for a group-wide situation report/operations reporting project
• Responsibility for the technical deliverability of the project within the agreed scope
• Translation of business goals, KPI requirements, and specifications into actionable epics, features, user stories, tasks, and acceptance criteria
• Creation, maintenance, and prioritization of the technical product backlog in Jira
• Preparation of sprint planning together with Requirements Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Reporting, and UX
• Management of end-to-end implementation from requirement to architecture and data integration to data service, semantic model, and report
• Coordination of technical dependencies between Holding Lakehouse, source systems, Databricks, Power BI, as well as infrastructure and platform teams
• Alignment of business and technical priorities with business project management and relevant stakeholders
• Moderation of refinements, technical planning rounds, and decision-making workshops
• Risk and roadblock management as well as support with release planning

Requirements

• Several years of experience as a Technical Product Owner or in a comparable role in data/BI projects
• Sound project management experience, including managing interdisciplinary teams
• Practical experience with Databricks in an Azure environment as well as Lakehouse architectures
• Confident use of Jira for backlog management and task control
• Experience with Power BI (data provisioning, semantic models, DAX)
• Ability to translate business requirements and KPI specifications into technical epics, features, and user stories
• German language skills at least at C1 level
• Strong communication and moderation skills for workshops and decision-making rounds

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure DevOps and, prospectively, GitHub
• Knowledge of Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• Experience with the DQX framework for data quality rules
• Experience in building standardized Data Operating Models
