Job description

Seeking a Senior Test Engineer for a hybrid role in Amersfoort, focusing on software quality for the energy transition. The role involves test automation, collaboration with developers, and coaching team members.

Project overview

Hello Senior Test Engineer!

Do you want to work at the heart of the energy transition?

32 - 40 hours | Amersfoort / Hybrid (Mon+Wed) | Energy Market / IT | Start July 13, 2026 | Duration at least until the end of the year

Interviews: July 6 and 8 |

As a Test Engineer at EDSN, you ensure qualitative software that accelerates the energy transition. With your expertise in testing, software development, and test automation, you directly contribute to the reliability of our software and the sustainability of the Netherlands.

This is how you work as a Test Engineer full of energy

In your role as Test Engineer, you work within the System Team to continuously deliver new features with high quality. You are involved from the refinement stage and contribute to the test approach, scenarios, and automation. You understand that errors in our systems have a direct impact on the electricity grid, which is why your work is of great importance. The system team develops current standards, including RobotFramework, alongside innovative standards for test automation, release management, and assurance.

You have a background in software development and are strong in test automation. You work closely with developers to review code, build test scenarios, and seamlessly integrate them into CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows. Because our systems deal with large-scale, real-time data streams, your focus is also strongly on testing robust backend connections and asynchronous processes. Additionally, you coach your team in the areas of quality and test strategy.

You actively participate in the test community within EDSN, where Test Engineers from all teams come together to share knowledge, discuss new developments, and continuously improve.

This energizes you as a Test Engineer

You get energized by continuously improving processes and techniques

You enjoy working collaboratively across teams and coaching colleagues in test automation

You understand event-driven architectures and find it interesting to test asynchronous processes via Kafka and other message queues

You are critical and meticulous, and you are eager to share knowledge and elevate your team to a higher level

You believe it is important to monitor quality from the very first moment in the development process

You understand that testing and quality are a team effort and can involve others in this

You are results-oriented, proactive, assertive, and possess persuasive and communication skills

Test automation is also software development. You are at home in Java, Python, and/or Kotlin and can discuss this with developers

This is what you bring:

You have at least HBO work and thinking level in IT, supplemented with relevant certificates such as TMAP, ISTQB, or Agile Tester

You have extensive testing experience (5+ years) in a complex backend environment and are familiar with modern agile testing methods

You have development experience and, in terms of test automation, with tools like PlayWright, K6, or Cypress

You have experience with Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) and Cucumber Automation

You are familiar with Git workflows and CI/CD platforms (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and can test in automated deployment pipelines

You have experience with scripting languages (such as Bash, TypeScript, or Groovy) for automating tasks and supporting your testing activities.

You have practical experience with:

AWS and Kubernetes

Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)

Backend/API testing (REST, GraphQL) with tools like REST Assured, Postman, or similar

Database testing and SQL for data validation

Testing in DevOps environments and validating deployments

Message queue testing, specifically Kafka (validating events, testing consumer/producer)

You have knowledge of SAFe (preferred)

You have experience in the energy sector and coaching team members (preferred)
