We currently have 180 great colleagues on projects. To further strengthen our team, we are currently looking for a Test Strategist (m/f/x) to work with our client in Ghent / Brussels.

Function

The Test Strategist is responsible for defining and coordinating the overarching, risk-based test strategy for a complete software solution. The focus is on ensuring that all components, integrations, and end-to-end business processes are validated in a consistent and effective manner.

The role includes both functional and non-functional quality aspects, including performance, security, resilience, and operational readiness. The test strategy forms the framework within which various teams execute their detailed test plans and test activities.

Job Requirements

• This position can be filled with either a permanent contract (employee status) or a freelance contract
• Region: Ghent / Brussels
• Full-time
• Drafting and maintaining the overarching test strategy for the software solution
• Defining the test scope, objectives, principles, dependencies, assumptions, and risks
• Determining the required test levels and test types, such as: System Testing, System Integration Testing, End-to-End Testing, Regression Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Performance Testing, and Security Testing
• Developing a risk-based test approach tailored to business criticality, technical complexity, and integrations
• Defining the test automation strategy and determining which tests will be automated or performed manually
• Establishing guidelines for test environments and test data
• Organizing test governance and alignment between development, testing, architecture, business, and other stakeholders
• Defining quality criteria, quality gates, and entry/exit criteria
• Overseeing defect management, risk management, test coverage, and quality reporting
• Monitoring the alignment between the overarching test strategy and the detailed test plans of the involved teams
• Continuously evaluating and adapting the test strategy based on changes in architecture, scope, risks, or delivery approach
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent through experience
• Demonstrable experience in software testing and quality assurance within complex IT environments
• Experience in drafting end-to-end test strategies for large-scale software solutions
• Experience with system integration and end-to-end testing
• Experience with test automation and test governance
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, and/or hybrid delivery models
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to align different teams around a common quality approach
• Decisive and results-oriented
• Strong organizational and coordination skills
• Risk-aware and quality-focused
• Ability to translate complex technical matters into clear guidelines and strategies

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of software test methodologies and quality processes
• Knowledge of risk-based testing
• Knowledge of functional and non-functional testing
• Insight into test automation frameworks and CI/CD processes
• Knowledge of test management, defect management, and reporting
• Understanding of software architectures, integrations, and complex IT landscapes
• Knowledge of performance, security, and resilience testing
