Seeking an experienced Test & System Engineer for a quadruped robot project in its early phase. The role involves creating the test concept for the A-sample and initiating functional system tests on the real robot.
Project overview
For a robotics company, we are looking for an experienced Test & System Engineer (m/f/d) for a four-legged robot (Quadruped) on short notice. The project is in an early phase: You will create the test concept for the A-sample and initiate the first functional system tests directly on the real robot. Ideal for hands-on testers who enjoy building structures and not just executing existing test cases.
Responsibilities

- Create test concept and test strategy for the Quadruped (A-sample)
- Plan, prepare, and conduct basic functional system tests on the A-sample
- Set up smoke and sanity tests as quality gates
- Verify sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces across the entire system (hardware, software, electronics, mechanics)
- Document, classify, and track errors in Jira, create test reports
- Root cause analyses together with the development teams
- Co-build and further develop test stands, test rigs, and, if necessary, HiL environments
- Work closely with development and test automation
Requirements
Advantageous:
Framework Conditions
- Technical degree (Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar)
- At least 2 years of experience in system, hardware, or integration testing of mechatronic systems
- Experience in creating test concepts or test specifications
- Practical experience with measurement technology (e.g., oscilloscope, logic analyzer)
- Knowledge of common communication protocols (e.g., CAN, EtherCAT, TCP/IP, UDP)
- Python for test scripts, Git, Jira (preferably with Xray or TestRail)
- Good English
- Experience with robotics, automotive, or automation, especially with early prototypes and A-samples
- ROS 2 or comparable robotics middleware
- HiL systems, CI/CD (GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Validation of EMC, compliance, or functional safety
- German language skills
