Role: Testing Engineer / QA Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and structured testing of applications, user interfaces, and data interfaces.
• Plan, conduct, and document test runs against defined system and functional requirements.
• Systematic troubleshooting, defect management, and logging in close cooperation with the development team.
• Participate in setup, execution, and verification in dedicated test lab environments.

Requirements

Must be able to obtain security clearance (Norwegian citizenship required; active clearance before start is not a requirement)

About the position

For an exciting project in system engineering in Kongsberg, we are looking for a forward-thinking testing engineer with a focus on verification and functional testing of applications and interfaces. The position is primarily aimed at testing at the software/system level (little physical hardware), but the work is performed closely integrated with the test rigs in the lab in Kongsberg.

The role is ideally suited for a junior engineer with a couple of years of experience who is curious, eager to learn, and motivated to understand complex systems.

• Education: Relevant bachelor's or master's degree in IT, computer science, data engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent field.
• Experience: 1-3 years of practical experience with testing, QA, or application support.
• Technical understanding: Good general understanding of computer systems, data flow, and interfaces. Experience with pure software coding/programming is not a requirement.
• Requirements verification: Familiarity with methodology for requirements tracing and verification is an advantage, but not an absolute requirement.
• Security: Norwegian citizen who meets the criteria for obtaining security clearance in accordance with the Security Act (resided in Norway for the last 10 years, clean record).
• Quick learner: Ability to quickly absorb system knowledge and understand complex technical contexts.
• Structured and accurate: Methodical approach to test procedures, documentation, and logging of findings.
• Forward-thinking and proactive: Enjoys asking questions, taking initiative, and collaborating closely in interdisciplinary teams.
