Takeover & Support of a Regional Business, Trade, Winegrowing, and Tourism Portal

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced, German-speaking WordPress freelancer or a small agency to technically take over, review, fix bugs, and further develop an existing extensive web portal.

This is not a simple club website, but a regional information, business, and tourism portal in Rhineland-Palatinate. We will disclose the domain only upon request for confidentiality reasons.

The site is financed by member company entries. These members should be able to "claim" their existing company entry and then exclusively edit their own entry, e.g., texts, contact details, opening hours, links, and images.

This rights/claim system currently does not work reliably and needs to be reviewed or rebuilt.

In the long term, the portal is intended to serve more as a digital regional discovery portal. Planned features include location-based landing pages, editorial presentations of companies, hosts, and wineries, better linking of locations, POIs, and events, QR code campaigns, and statistical evaluation of accesses and redirects.

A complete redevelopment is not mandated. First, it should be checked which existing components can be sensibly reused. If the current setup is unnecessarily complicated or difficult to maintain in the long term, we expect a reasoned recommendation for a better solution.

Skills sought:

WordPress, PHP, MySQL/MariaDB, plugin/theme customization, user roles and permissions, custom post types, directory/listing systems, geo/map functions, frontend editing, responsive web design, security, and backup. Experience with tourism, industry, or member portals is an advantage.
