• Description:
• The role is anchored in the development team that is building a central API and integration platform, through which backend domains (including customer account, travel companion, order context) are made accessible for downstream applications, and is developing existing partner interfaces in parallel. The focus is on endpoint design, security, mapping, and observability based on AWS API Gateway (REST) and AWS Lambda.
• The platform includes three integration types: 1:1 proxy endpoints, endpoints with structured request/response mapping, and aggregating endpoints across multiple backend services (via AWS Lambda).
• Development and maintenance of REST endpoints based on AWS API Gateway
• Implementation of the three integration types: 1:1 proxy, mapping-based, and aggregating (Lambda)
• Endpoint design and versioning according to specified conventions
• Implementation and testing of role-based access control based on JWT claims
• Handling of error scenarios and fallback strategies per endpoint
• Coordination of API contracts and data models with connected backend domains (KTO, RBL, BUE/AUF)

Your Qualifications

• Several years of experience in developing REST APIs and integration platforms
• Very good knowledge of AWS API Gateway (REST) and AWS Lambda
• Experience with API security patterns and access control (JWT, role-based models, claims, least privilege, auth-fail handling)
• Experience in creating and maintaining OpenAPI specifications as well as integrating distributed backend systems (including mapping and aggregation solutions)
• Experience with observability, test automation, and engineering tooling (structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, Instana, Graylog, Cucumber, Playwright, Gatling, WireMock, Maven, GitLab CI/CD, SonarQube, Fortify, Artifactory)
• Experience in agile development, especially in teams with parallel dependencies on other systems
• Experience with Java 21 and Spring Boot as well as containerized deployments on Kubernetes (AWS EKS); Javascript/Typescript is an advantage in the context of API and integration development
• Good German language skills, spoken and written
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Pulumi, CDK) and AWS backend services (e.g., S3, EFS, ElastiCache) as well as with PostgreSQL on AWS RDS
• Knowledge of business customer context models or comparable organizational/role structures
