Description

For an established medium-sized company, we are looking for an experienced accountant (m/f/d) with in-depth expertise in preparing financial statements according to HGB. The focus of this position is on the independent preparation, creation, and support of monthly, quarterly, and especially annual financial statements.

We are looking for a personality who is confident in both operational accounting processes and complex accounting and closing issues. In addition to professional responsibility for accounting, you will play a central role in ensuring the quality of financial data and further developing existing processes.

Responsibilities

• Independent preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to HGB
• Preparation and support of annual audits by auditors
• Preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and notes
• Responsibility for period-appropriate accruals, provisions, and deferred items
• Valuation of balance sheet items according to HGB
• Reconciliation and analysis of all balance sheet and P&L accounts
• Ensuring the completeness and quality of all accounting data before closing activities
• Independent clarification of complex accounting and valuation issues
• Participation in the consolidation of companies and intercompany reconciliations
• Preparation of VAT returns and tax-related reports
• Contact person for auditors, tax advisors, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders
• Analysis of balance sheet key figures and support for management on financial issues
• Support in optimizing and standardizing closing processes
• Identification of risks and potential improvements in accounting
• Support in the digitalization and automation of finance processes

Requirements

• Successfully completed commercial apprenticeship with further training as a certified accountant (IHK) or comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in accounting with proven responsibility for annual financial statements
• Very good knowledge in the preparation of annual financial statements according to HGB
• In-depth understanding of commercial accounting and valuation regulations
• Experience in the independent execution of closing activities and closing processes
• Confident handling of provisions, accruals, fixed asset accounting, and balance sheet analyses
• Experience in working with auditors and tax advisors
• Good knowledge of VAT law and German Commercial Code
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Navision, or comparable solutions
• Very good knowledge of Excel and the creation of financial analyses
• Structured, careful, and independent way of working
• High affinity for numbers and analytical thinking skills
• Strong sense of quality and responsibility
• Good German language skills, both written and spoken
