• As-Is Analysis & Migration Preparation: Analysis of existing MS SQL Server environments (tables, views, stored procedures, T-SQL) and Qlik applications (data models, load scripts) to identify migration risks, dependencies, and optimization potentials.
• Target Architecture & Conception: Co-design and implementation of the target architecture based on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, considering data retention, operational, and security aspects.
• Data Engineering & ELT Pipelines: Conception and implementation of robust, restartable data integration processes using SQL and Python (PySpark), including historization, error handling, and monitoring.
• Power BI & Semantic Data Modeling: Building dimensional and semantic data models, implementing complex DAX calculation logic, and creating performant reports and interactive dashboards.
• Quality Assurance & AI Tooling: Conception and execution of technical validation tests of data and KPIs; targeted use of approved AI-supported development tools (e.g., AI Code Assistants / Copilot) within the scope of governance guidelines.
• Microsoft Fabric: At least 5 years of demonstrable project experience in the conception and implementation of productive BI and data solutions with Microsoft Fabric / Azure Synapse Data Engineering ecosystem.
• Microsoft Power BI & DAX: At least 5 years of demonstrable project experience in the development of productive BI solutions with Power BI (semantic models, complex DAX logic, dashboards).
• ELT / ETL with SQL & Python: At least 5 years of demonstrable project experience in the conception and development of data pipelines based on SQL and Python (including PySpark).
• AI-supported Development: At least 3 years of practical experience in the targeted use of AI-supported methods/tools to support software or data development processes.
• Language Skills: Business fluent German (written and spoken, C1) for technical coordination and project documentation.
• BI Migrations (40%): At least 3 years of experience in migrating established BI landscapes to Microsoft Fabric / Power BI.
• Performance Optimization (20%): At least 2 years of experience in performance optimization of DAX calculations, data models, and load times.
• Qlik Know-how (20%): At least 2 years of practical experience in analyzing Qlik data models and load scripts.
• MS SQL Server (20%): At least 3 years of in-depth know-how in T-SQL, stored procedures, views, and database structures.

Project Background

As part of a company-wide modernization initiative at DB Systel GmbH, an existing on-premises data and business intelligence landscape (based on Microsoft SQL Server and Qlik) is being gradually replaced. The goal is the transition to a state-of-the-art, scalable cloud target architecture based on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

An experienced Senior Data Analyst / BI Engineer is sought for the functional and technical migration, semantic modeling, data engineering pipelines, and the implementation of modern reporting solutions.
