Application Production Support Engineer - Geneos ITRS

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Application Production Support Engineer to join a global Markets Production Support team responsible for maintaining business-critical banking applications and services.

The team supports a wide range of systems covering settlements, payments, cash flow processing, business process management, and regulatory reporting.

You will work in a distributed international environment, collaborating with technology teams across different regions to ensure the stability, availability, and continuous improvement of critical production platforms.

This role combines hands-on technical application support, incident and problem management, automation, and close cooperation with infrastructure and development teams. It offers an opportunity to work with enterprise-scale banking systems in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

• Provide advanced technical application support within a Business-as-Usual (BAU) production environment
• Monitor and maintain critical applications and infrastructure using Geneos ITRS, Apache Airflow, and BMC Control-M
• Manage incidents, problems, and changes of varying complexity, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact
• Apply IT Service Management (ITSM) principles and effectively prioritize tasks in a dynamic production environment
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, operational efficiency, and service quality, taking ownership of initiatives through to implementation
• Work closely with the CIO and relevant technology teams to troubleshoot issues and implement application enhancements that improve the supportability of the platform
• Ensure compliance with established Change Control and Fault Reporting procedures
• Participate in bank-wide Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and collaborate with the wider Production Support team on remediation activities
• Work closely with UNIX, Database, Network, and upstream/downstream application teams to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
• Manage outstanding risks and audit findings, ensuring appropriate remediation and closure
• Conduct regular environment risk assessments and identify, document, and escalate emerging risks
• Actively contribute to knowledge sharing and cross-training initiatives within internal teams
• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline
• Strong experience in Application Production Support, IT Operations, or a similar technical support role, preferably within the financial services or banking sector
• Solid understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM), including Incident, Problem, and Change Management
• Strong hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux environments and shell scripting
• Very good knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including troubleshooting and data analysis
• Good programming skills in at least one language, preferably Python
• Experience with monitoring and scheduling tools such as Geneos ITRS, Apache Airflow, and BMC Control-M
• Familiarity with technologies such as ELK Stack, Apache Kafka, and Apache ZooKeeper
• Practical experience using AI-powered tools to improve productivity and support daily engineering activities
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and work effectively under time pressure
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, combined with the ability to work independently in a remote, globally distributed team
• Fluent English, both written and spoken
