Project overview
This contract BI Lead will own the end-to-end BI and reporting workstream, including assessment, design, development, migration, testing, and handover of enterprise reporting solutions. The core requirements are 10–15 years in BI and analytics, hands-on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, strong semantic modelling, DAX and Power Query, knowledge of Direct Lake, Import and DirectQuery, and experience leading BI modernisation with business stakeholders. The role also covers security, performance, deployment practices, SAP reporting logic translation, and reconciliation between legacy and target reporting.
SAP BW/BW4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, Analysis for Office, SAP Datasphere/BDC, SAP-to-Fabric migration, relevant certifications, and large-enterprise or manufacturing experience are preferred. The position is based in Copenhagen and is a contract; the work mode is not specified, and the stated 10–15-year experience band matches the description.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end BI and reporting workstream, covering assessment, design, development, migration, testing and handover.
- Assess and rationalise existing SAP BI(SAC) reports, dashboards and analytical solutions and define the appropriate migration approach.
- Lead design and development of Power BI reports and enterprise semantic models on Microsoft Fabric.
- Translate existing SAP reporting logic, KPIs, hierarchies and business rules into the target BI solution.
- Define standards and best practices for Power BI semantic modelling, DAX, Direct Lake, Import/DirectQuery and report development.
- Work closely with the Data Architect and engineering teams to ensure alignment between the Fabric Gold layer, semantic models and reporting requirements.
- Define and implement appropriate RLS/OLS and reporting security patterns.
- Drive report validation and reconciliation between legacy SAP reporting and the new Power BI solution.
- Lead business workshops, demonstrations, UAT and resolution of reporting-related issues.
- Provide technical guidance and reviews for BI developers and support knowledge transfer to the customer BI team.
- Own the SAP-to-Fabric migration strategy, including report inventory, usage analysis, complexity assessment, dependency mapping and disposition decisions across rebuild, retire, consolidate and retain.
- Define traceability from SAP BW Queries, SAC stories and Analysis for Office workbooks to Fabric data products, Power BI semantic models, measures and reports.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of experience in BI, analytics, and enterprise reporting
- Hands-on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI expertise
- Power BI semantic modelling, DAX, and Power Query
- Understanding of Direct Lake, Import, and DirectQuery patterns
- Scalable enterprise semantic models and dimensional data modelling
- Power BI security including RLS/OLS, performance optimisation, and deployment practices
- Leadership of BI/report migration or modernisation programmes
- Customer-facing communication and business stakeholder management
