Project overview
Job description
Business Consultant ODC-Noord
At ODC-Noord, we work on IT infrastructure and cloud solutions for the Dutch central government. As a Business Consultant, you advise clients on complex ICT issues and the choices involved. You investigate their plans, map out technical and organizational possibilities, and translate these into concrete advice and roadmaps. You will have the freedom to independently manage advisory projects and contribute to the further development of our services.
Responsibilities
As a Business Consultant at ODC-Noord, you help clients within the central government make choices about their ICT environment. For example, an organization wants to renew its application landscape and underlying infrastructure, prepare for a cloud migration, or explore the possibilities of new technology. You will engage in discussions with the involved IT managers, investigate what is needed, and map out the different solution directions.
You look beyond the technical question alone. You investigate how processes are organized within the client organization, what developments are coming, and what the changes mean for the client's organization and ODC-Noord's ICT services. Through targeted conversations, workshops, and assessments, you make bottlenecks, needs, and dependencies clear. You use these insights to determine the necessary steps together with the client.
For technical depth, you will work closely with colleagues from architecture and security, among others. You bring together the right expertise and translate the outcomes into substantiated advice, improvement proposals, and roadmaps. You will consider the client's wishes, technical possibilities, and ODC-Noord's services.
You will manage advisory projects from the initial exploration to the point where the necessary choices and follow-up steps are clear. You will monitor coherence, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure that agreements are clear. You will also identify issues that affect multiple government organizations and discuss how ODC-Noord can respond with its services.
In this role:
Background of the assignment
Government Data Center North (ODC-Noord) is a service provider of data center and cloud services for the Dutch central government. ODC-Noord is positioned under DUO but is an independent service provider for over 40 organizations within the government. ODC-Noord is thus the cloud service provider within the central government. We invest in an efficient government. From our data centers, we deliver standardized, scalable, and sustainable cloud services. ODC-Noord is an ambitious organization with a growing range of services and an increasing number of clients.
ODC-Noord follows opportunities in the market and shares its innovative insights with its environment. We are solution-oriented, transparent, make clear agreements, and keep them. We operate from a compact and agile organization.

Competencies
You are accustomed to independently tackling complex ICT issues and advising on them. You know how to investigate an issue, weigh different interests, and arrive at substantiated advice. You can easily switch between IT managers, architects, technical specialists, and other stakeholders. You don't need to have all the technical answers yourself, but you understand enough about IT infrastructure and cloud services to ask the right questions and contribute conceptually.
