Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Supervisor to support the delivery of civil works on a high-voltage substation project in Charleroi, Belgium, for an initial 3-month contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and supervising day-to-day civil construction activities, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with approved QA/QC documentation, HSE requirements, technical specifications, and project schedules.

This is a predominantly site-based role, requiring a strong on-site presence to manage subcontractors, monitor construction progress, and coordinate directly with the client and wider project team.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience supervising civil works on HV substations, power infrastructure, or large-scale industrial construction projects, with strong subcontractor management and stakeholder coordination skills.

Key Things to Note

• Oversee and supervise all civil construction activities associated with the HV substation project.
• Monitor works including excavations, earthworks, concrete foundations, cable trenches, drainage, underground services, and associated civil infrastructure.
• Ensure all construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, QA/QC documentation, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and HSE requirements.
• Maintain a strong daily on-site presence, actively monitoring progress, workmanship, safety, and quality.
• Manage and coordinate civil subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project expectations.
• Act as a key point of contact between subcontractors, the client, and the wider construction management team.
• Attend site coordination meetings, progress reviews, and inspections with the client and relevant stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve construction issues, quality concerns, and potential delays, escalating where necessary.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and HSE teams to ensure compliance with project procedures and applicable regulations.
• Monitor subcontractor performance against the construction programme and report progress to project management.
• Support the management of non-conformances (NCRs), site observations, snagging, and corrective actions.
• Ensure civil works are completed to the required standards and ready for subsequent electrical installation activities.
• Promote and enforce a strong health, safety, and quality culture across all site activities.
• Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor, Civil Site Supervisor, or Civil Construction Supervisor on HV substations, power infrastructure, data centres, or major industrial projects.
• Strong technical understanding of civil construction activities associated with HV substations, including foundations, concrete works, excavations, drainage, and underground infrastructure.
• Demonstrable experience managing and coordinating multiple subcontractors on active construction sites.
• Experience working directly with clients, construction managers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Good working knowledge of QA/QC procedures, ITPs, construction drawings, method statements, and HSE requirements.
• Ability to identify construction issues, manage site priorities, and ensure works meet quality and safety expectations.
• Previous experience within EPC/EPCM or main contractor environments is advantageous.
• Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, site-focused supervisory role with significant daily site presence.
• French and English language skills required.
• Relevant civil engineering, construction management, or technical qualification preferred.
