Cloud Engineering/DevOps REMOTE

Project overview

For a leading, Europe-wide operating retail company, we are looking for an experienced Cloud & DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) to independently drive the conception, construction, and modernization of complex cloud and container infrastructures.

Responsibilities

Framework Data:

• Conception and automated setup of new cloud infrastructures in Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure using Terraform
• Refactoring, optimization, and scaling of existing Google and Azure infrastructures
• Setup, modernization, and expansion of Kubernetes environments in a hybrid environment (on-premises as well as in Google Cloud and Azure)
• Holistic implementation of technical requirements from architecture planning to rollout
• Preparation and execution of practical training sessions as well as continuous knowledge transfer to internal teams
• Start Date: 09.11.2026
• Currently planned project duration: until 30.04.2027 (approx. 6 months)
• Utilization: 3–4 days per week (Total contingent: 770 hours)
• Remote possible: 100% remote

Requirements

• Many years of professional experience (> 5 years) in an enterprise environment with a focus on Cloud Engineering and DevOps
• Profound hyperscaler experience (min. 4 years) with a focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure (AWS, Hetzner or StackIT are an advantage)
• Excellent knowledge (> 5 years) in container orchestration with Kubernetes and Docker (on-premises and cloud)
• In-depth expertise (> 5 years) in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform as well as version control with Git
• Profound practice (> 5 years) in Linux environments and modern GitOps workflows (Argo CD, Flux)
• Several years of routine (3–5 years) in setting up and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or Azure Pipelines)
• Solid user knowledge (3–5 years) in Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki), Network & Service Mesh (Cilium, Calico, Istio) as well as Kubernetes Manifest Management
• Practical experience (3–5 years) in Secrets Management & PKI (HashiCorp Vault, External Secrets, cert-manager) as well as Policy as Code (Kyverno, OPA)
• Desirable: Knowledge of relevant security standards (NIS2, BSI IT-Grundschutz), automation with Ansible as well as database and messaging technologies (RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Strong communication skills and enjoyment of knowledge transfer within team training
