Control Engineering / Automation Specialist | Commissioning Power Plant / Large Plant | Berlin

Project overview

For a long-term power plant project in Berlin, we are looking for an experienced freelance specialist for control engineering / automation.

The focus is on the planning, preparation, and subsequent commissioning of the overarching control system for various generation units at the power plant site.

Responsibilities

• Technical coordination of control engineering and automation activities within the commissioning team
• Planning, preparation, and technical supervision of control system commissioning, including commissioning scheduling, test procedures, and documentation
• Coordination and support of I/O, loop, signal, function, interlock, acceptance, and performance tests
• Coordination of control system interfaces with other plant areas, as well as shutdown, transfer, and tie-in work
• Support in technical clarification and fault analysis on PLC, DCS, SCADA, and communication systems
• Consultation on ensuring compliance with technical requirements, specifications, regulations, permits, and health, safety, and environmental requirements, including PSSR and PTW
• Review and consultation on commissioning documentation, completion certificates, red-line documentation, system/function descriptions, cause & effect diagrams, and operating documents
• Management of open points (LOP) and support for maintenance and modification measures during commissioning
• Creation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports, as well as technical evaluation and communication of risks, disturbances, and deviations, including risk workshops
• Preparation and technical support for the control system commissioning phase from Q2/Q3 2029

• Several years of experience in control engineering or automation commissioning in plant or power plant construction
• Sound knowledge of process control systems (DCS), PLCs, and overarching automation systems
• Experience with I/O checks, signal tests, and loop checks
• Experience with function, sequence, and interlock tests
• Experience in the preparation and planning of commissioning activities
• Experience with FAT, SAT, and commissioning tests
• Confident handling of control engineering documentation and commissioning documents
• Experience in brownfield environments or with interfaces to already operational plant sections
