Function

For an organization in the public sector, we are looking for an experienced Data Engineer / BI Specialist for the further development of a central analytical data platform. In this role, you will combine backend data engineering with the development of semantic models and reporting, enabling users to efficiently extract insights from complex datasets.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines
• Design and implement ETL processes for data processing and transformation
• Model and structure data within a modern data platform
• Develop semantic models to support reporting and analysis
• Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards
• Integrate data from various sources via APIs and other data systems
• Monitor data quality, data governance, and security guidelines
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders within an Agile environment
• Contribute to the further architecture and evolution of the data and reporting platform

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer
• Minimum 5 years of experience with developing and maintaining data pipelines
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, and/or Scala for data streams and ETL processes
• Minimum 5 years of experience with developing Power BI reports and dashboards
• Excellent knowledge of Dutch (CEFR C2)
• Basic knowledge of Agile working methods
• Experience with ETL processes and databases
• Experience with dbt or analytics engineering concepts
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Git and versioning workflows
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data solutions (such as Data Factory, Synapse, Lakehouse, or Warehouse)
• Minimum 5 years of experience with REST APIs
• Knowledge of data quality, data governance, and security principles
• Experience with Microsoft Purview or other data catalogs
• Experience with multi-tenant or domain-driven data platforms
• Experience within a government environment
• Knowledge of infrastructure, patrimony, or asset data
• Strong knowledge of SQL and data warehouse modeling, including star schemas, dimensions, and data architectures
