Job description

The GWDG is seeking two Data Protection Managers to support an interdisciplinary team of HPC experts. This role involves managing a data protection management system, coordinating technical and organizational measures, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Project overview

Job Advertisement No.

The GWDG is looking for two Data Protection Managers to strengthen an interdisciplinary team of HPC experts in the "Computing" working group (AG C) as soon as possible.

Data Protection Managers

with a regular weekly working time of 39 hours (100%). Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for public service employees (Bund); depending on qualifications, classification up to pay group TVoD E 13 is envisaged. The positions are suitable for part-time work and are initially limited until December 31, 2029. GWDG aims for long-term cooperation.

The Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen (GWDG) is the university computer center for the Georg August University Göttingen and a computing and IT competence center for the Max Planck Society. Providing high-performance HPC systems has been one of its core tasks for over 40 years. In 2020, the University Göttingen/GWDG was accepted as one of eight computing centers into the National High-Performance Computing (NHR) network. GWDG operates the HLRN-IV system "Emmy", one of the most powerful computers in the world.

As a national supercomputing center, GWDG offers technical support to researchers and students from various scientific fields – including earth and environmental sciences, life sciences, and engineering – in using complex software codes. We are also involved in national and international research projects. At the same time, we aim for closer cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and specialized computing centers such as the German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) and the Institute for Advanced Simulation (IAS-JSC).

As part of our AI Service Center for Sensitive and Critical Infrastructure (KISSKI), we have developed a range of AI-based services that offer a high level of security and data protection, as processing takes place on our own hardware. The position advertised here will primarily be used in the "KISSKI-EvoKS" sub-project, which offers industry-specific AI solutions and implementation support for AI projects specifically for SMEs and startups.

Furthermore, within the framework of KISSKI, KISSKI-EvoKS, the EU AI Factory HammerHAI, and the Quantum Computing Service Center QUICS, we collaborate with customers from various industries, including universities, public institutions, and companies.

Together with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS) of the University of Göttingen, GWDG offers an inspiring research environment in Scientific Computing with the opportunity to conduct research at the interface of applied computer science, high-performance computing, AI, and machine learning.
