Developer QGIS and Python Plugin Development

Project overview

For a project in the transport and logistics sector, we are looking for an experienced developer for the development and further development of QGIS plugins. The position is 100% remote and offers flexible working models – for freelancers as well as for employed consultants.

Responsibilities

You will develop and extend QGIS plugins in Python, integrate PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases, and work on Headless-QGIS solutions. Furthermore, you will support the team through technical consulting, create clean, maintainable code, and deliver production-ready applications. Your work includes designing map layers, implementing authentication and security measures, and utilizing OGC API features and modern version control systems.

Requirements

You bring at least 3 years of experience in developing QGIS plugins with Python (PyQGIS/PyQt) at an intermediate level. Knowledge of PostgreSQL and PostGIS is required. Familiarity with GIT, WMS, WFS, and other geoinformation standards is advantageous. You work in a structured manner, communicate clearly, and can quickly familiarize yourself with new technologies.

Project details

12 months with option for extension, starting January 2027. The scope is 210 person-days. Collaboration is fully remote with a base in Frankfurt am Main.
