Developer - Safety-Critical Warning Systems

Project overview

As part of a nationwide digitalization project, a safety-relevant system for automated traveler warnings is being developed. The goal is to reliably and promptly warn travelers on platforms about approaching and passing trains. For this purpose, timetable, train route, and location data will be processed to automatically trigger warning messages. The application will be developed based on a new, event-driven architecture and gradually expanded with further warning functions and operating points.

Development will take place in an agile, cross-location team, taking into account the safety standards CENELEC EN 50126 and EN 50716.

• Development of backend components with Java, Spring Boot, Axon, and NATS
• Cloud-native development with AWS, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and Pulumi
• Setup of GitLab CI/CD pipelines and monitoring with Grafana, Prometheus, and Tempo
• Automated tests, documentation, and CENELEC-compliant software development
• MUST: 5 years Java backend development
• MUST: 5 years Spring Boot backend development
• MUST: 2 references CENELEC know-how in software development
• MUST: 3 years hexagonal architecture or comparable architectural approaches
• MUST: 3 years Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• SHOULD: 3 years Observability with Grafana, Prometheus, and Tempo
• SHOULD: 3 years AWS
• SHOULD: 5 years Infrastructure as Code with Pulumi
• Full-time employment with 8h/day and 5 days/week
• Planned project duration is 01.01.2027 – 31.12.2027
