Our client, a large international IT service provider, is looking for a DevOps Engineer in the Sovereign Cloud and Security environment for a project in the defense sector. The candidate must have fluent German and English skills, and due to the end client's requirements, a residence in Germany and German citizenship, with the highest possible coverage of the requirements profile below.
Please note that our client is very price-sensitive and, in addition to technical expertise, places a primary focus on the hourly rate expectation (purely remote assignment - likely around €65/hour realistically). A security clearance (Ü1) may be requested if not already held.
Responsibilities
The DevOps team is responsible for the operation and ongoing development of an open-source cloud platform.

Additionally, the role optimizes development, release, and deployment cycles (automation, scaling, CI/CD) and assists with end-to-end performance testing, resource planning, and security enhancements.
Our Requirements
- a point of contact for product managers, product owners, the operations team, and customers
- handles platform configuration
- supports application development and maintenance
- Kubernetes or comparable container technologies
- Scripting with Go, Python, or Bash
- Automation and automated deployments (Ansible, SaltStack, Terraform, Helm)
- CI/CD in Kubernetes environments and repository management
- Git automation (GitHub, GitLab) with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD
- Linux
- Monitoring and visualization (Grafana, Prometheus, Instana)
- Platform configuration in the areas of network, application, and security
- Knowledge of Agile methods and Scrum events
- Fluent German and English
- German passport and permanent residence in Germany
- Willingness to undergo Ü1 security clearance or already possess it
Nice to have
- Databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, HANA (desirable)
- Streaming and indexing with Kafka and Elasticsearch (desirable)
