Project overview

An energy industry transmission network operator is seeking a specialist project manager (m/f/d) for route and execution planning in civil engineering for the HVDC Earth Cable SuedOstLink+ project.

The SuedOstLink+ is a planned direct current connection (HVDC) as an underground cable between the Schwerin region in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt, with commissioning planned for 2030. You will review, evaluate, and optimize the detailed route together with the contractors for route and environmental planning, civil engineering execution planning, electrical engineering expert reports, and cable supply/laying from a logistical, laying technology, and electrical engineering perspective.

Responsibilities

• Control of the contracted route service providers and coordination of interfaces between trades, including environmental planning, wayleave/access permits, soil investigations, unexploded ordnance, archaeology, and other expert reports, taking into account technical planning (from preliminary to execution planning, e.g., earthworks, logistics areas, traffic safety, HDD, pipe jacking) and execution-side requirements
• Independent technical quality assurance
• Development of the rough and detailed route planning as well as the execution planning and subsequent support of construction execution (e.g., management of change)
• Conducting coordination meetings for route planning with public authorities and other stakeholders
• Preparation of documents required for planning approval according to § 21 NABEG
• Creation of test specifications for quality assurance and control of compliance with planning and quality specifications for service provider deliverables and other documents
• Preparation of tender documents for planning and service scopes, including participation in the awarding process
• Support for and participation in quality and risk management, cost and schedule planning, and monitoring of compliance with HSE requirements

• Completed degree in an engineering program, e.g., Civil Engineering or equivalent, or a successfully completed training as a technician in the field of construction technology with at least 5 years of professional experience in route planning
• Sound knowledge of civil engineering, preferably in the route planning of overhead or extra-high voltage line structures, rail or motorway, and pipelines, alternatively in industrial construction
• Practical experience (min. 2 years) in infrastructure projects
• Very good German skills (C1) and good English skills (B2) in speaking and writing
• Unrestricted work permit for the EU
• Proof of the mentioned experience through personal project references (subject of contract, period, client, role undertaken, brief description of activities)
• Basic knowledge of the economic, technical, and legal framework conditions of the energy industry
• Experience in managing and executing projects for planning and implementation (project management experience)
• Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and iTWO, as well as basic knowledge of project management tools and SAP
• Experience in preparing preliminary and execution plans from projects in high-voltage cable technology (AC or DC, from 320 kV)
• Contract type: Freelance (Service contract)
