Project overview
An international company in the energy sector is looking for an experienced Business Analyst for its asset management and grid operations domain. You will help digitalise and optimise core operational processes of the high-voltage grid – from outage planning and switching to operational safety, offshore maintenance and administrative support in SAP PM – working closely with business stakeholders and IT.
Responsibilities
- Project areas
- Digitalising and optimising the planning of outages (temporarily taking parts of the grid out of service for maintenance). Due to security-of-supply risks and the complexity of renewable energy, outage planning is becoming increasingly difficult and is a crucial step in the maintenance process.
- Digitalising and automating switching (taking parts of the grid out of and back into service). Switching high-voltage grid elements is a complex, high-risk activity with many built-in controls, which makes the processes heavy; digitalisation makes these activities faster and safer.
- Improving the processes for the operational safety of the technicians and the supporting ICT applications. A high-voltage grid is an extremely dangerous environment; the goal is to increase safety while making activities more efficient, among others through automation and digitalisation.
- Supporting the offshore wind farms: more and more infrastructure has to be maintained at sea, with specific needs for business processes and supporting ICT applications.
- Improving the administrative support of the operational services (field staff and experts in the administrative centres) end-to-end, with efficient administrative processes implemented as standard as possible in SAP, mainly the Plant Maintenance module (SAP PM).
- Tasks
- Modelling the business processes and guiding the business in redesigning their processes.
- Identifying business needs and translating them into supported business requirements in the form of epics / user stories.
- Challenging the business regarding their needs and the to-be processes.
- Developing the necessary business information models describing the information needed to realise the different requirements.
- Harmonising business processes across the different departments and between the Belgian asset organisation and its German sister company.
- Aligning requirements between business and IT and having them validated by both.
- Validating the functional analysis of IT.
- After the implementation of a tool: testing and validating the releases.
- Playing an active role in change management, including preparing training material and giving end-user trainings, according to the existing change management methodology and toolkit.
- Supporting the business in using the IT tools during post-implementation.
Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of Dutch, French and English is required.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience as a business analyst in identifying needs, drafting business requirements and defining business processes.
- Master's degree in a technical or economic field, or equivalent through experience.
- Strong analytical ability and a sufficiently critical mindset; you dare to challenge.
- Good communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team; you can build consensus and convince the various stakeholders.
- Skilled in planning and organisation.
- A good degree of customer orientation and flexibility.
- For the administrative support project, a basic knowledge of SAP PM is required (or the willingness to learn it).
- Knowledge of BPMN and UML.
- Experience with the tools Enterprise Architect (EA), Jira and TFS DevOps is a plus.
- Experience in the electricity sector is an added value.
- Experience with the maintenance of industrial assets is a plus.
