Job description

Experienced Fleet/Maintenance Engineer (m/f/d) needed for long-term technical support of an existing light rail fleet. The role involves independent analysis and assessment of technical damage and wear on rail vehicles, with a possibility for remote work after initial onboarding.

Project overview

For an established transport company, we are looking for an experienced Fleet Engineer / Maintenance Engineer (m/f/d) for the long-term technical support of an existing light rail fleet. The position is advertised as a freelance service contract with a duration of 12 months and an option for extension. The work location is in North Rhine-Westphalia, with predominantly remote work possible after an initial familiarization phase.

The focus of the activity is the independent analysis and assessment of technical damage, wear, and anomalies on rail vehicles during ongoing operation. You will conduct technical damage analyses, assess the condition of vehicle components such as wheelsets, bogies, and braking systems, and check tolerances and wear limits based on applicable technical specifications.

Your tasks include developing concrete recommendations for repairs and maintenance, creating damage reports and technical statements, and coordinating professionally with the workshop and operational departments. Furthermore, you will support the evaluation and further development of existing maintenance processes.

Several years of practical experience in the technical maintenance of rail vehicles, demonstrable competence in the independent technical assessment of damage, and a sound understanding of mechanical and electromechanical vehicle components are required. A degree in mechanical engineering or vehicle technology, or a comparable qualification (e.g., state-certified technician), is required.
