For a regional fiber optic provider, we are looking for an experienced Fiber Planner (Freelance) who combines the technical planning of fiber optic networks with profound civil engineering know-how.

• Detailed fiber planning for the connection of mobile masts (Cell Sites) – including fiber attribution, splicing planning, joint and distributor conception, and documentation at the fiber level
• Creation of detailed circuit diagrams and fiber occupancy plans, taking into account redundancy requirements and latency targets of the mobile operator
• Rough planning of route corridors and transfer into detailed planning with exact route length and attenuation calculation
• Dimensioning of cable types, fiber counts, and protective pipe systems depending on network expansion stages and future-proofing
• Evaluation of route alignments, including civil engineering costs and constructability (soil conditions, crossing structures, approval situation)
• Creation of quantity frameworks and cost estimates for civil engineering and assembly trades based on detailed planning
• Coordination with civil engineering companies, network operations, and the mobile provider to ensure technically and economically optimal planning results
• Quality assurance of planning documents based on defined handover standards (e.g., as-built documentation, GIS data maintenance)
• Must-have: Several years of experience in detailed fiber optic planning – especially fiber attribution, splicing planning, joint and distributor conception, and fiber occupancy plans
• Must-have: Confident use of GIS and planning tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, FibreMap, Smallworld GIS, or comparable NMS/GIS systems)
• Must-have: Profound civil engineering know-how – cost calculation, route planning, and construction methods (trenching, HDD, ploughing)
• Experience in connecting mobile sites (Cell Site Backhaul) and knowledge of technical requirements regarding latency, redundancy, and SLA
• Knowledge of optical transmission parameters (attenuation budget, OTDR measurement, fiber classes according to ITU-T G.652/G.657)
• Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (VDE, DIN 18300 ff., ETSI)
• Desirable: Experience with approval procedures, wayleaves, and authority coordination
• Structured, self-reliant way of working and strong communication skills in interface management between planning, construction, and network operations
