Hello dear freelancer,

For a client in the energy industry, I am currently looking for an experienced Senior License Manager (m/f/d) to support an ongoing transformation project in the area of IT license and contract management.

Key Data:

• Start: 12/01/2026
• Duration: approx. 7 months
• Utilization: 20-30 hours/week
• Location: predominantly Remote (> 80%), occasionally on-site for workshops and coordination
• Contract Type: Freelance
• Industry: Energy Supply

Responsibilities

• Consulting and operational support for the sub-project "Licenses"
• Recording and clarification of IT license requirements from business departments and project teams
• Control of procurement of new licenses and transfer of existing license inventories from external service providers
• Ensuring license, maintenance, and contract compliance for software, hardware, and cloud solutions
• Maintenance and management of license, contract, and master data
• Coordination and support of the license management and contract management tools used
• Analysis and optimization of existing license models, contracts, and processes
• Identification of savings and optimization potentials in the license environment
• Technical support in contract negotiations with manufacturers and service providers

• Several years of experience in IT license management, IT contract management, or Software Asset Management (SAM)
• Experience in IT purchasing, ideally in the environment of energy providers
• Knowledge of licensing models for server, infrastructure, database, cloud, and SaaS solutions
• Experience with license measurement and license optimization in the data center and cloud environment
• Sound knowledge of at least one common license management/SAM tool (e.g., Raynet, Flexera, USU, Snow, or Matrix42)
• Experience with complex contract structures and compliance requirements
• Basic knowledge of IT law and data protection is an advantage
• Fluent German and very good English skills
