Freelance Vacancy: Quality Manager Sub-Project – Cable Trenching / Infrastructure | 2 Positions

Project overview

For our client, a network operator, we are looking for two experienced Quality Managers for a nationally significant infrastructure project. As part of the Quality Management staff unit, you will each be responsible for a sub-project. You will operationally introduce, implement, and further develop the quality methodology there, based on ISO 9001.

Responsibilities

First point of contact for all QM, QS, and QC topics in the sub-project, for sub-project management and overall project management

Establishment and maintenance of the regulatory system: regulatory documents, process management, standards database, glossary

Establishment of deviation registers, quality assessments, and non-conformities in the sub-project and with contractors

Moderation of quality assessments and non-conformities with the originators, including documentation and follow-up of measures

Planning and execution of the Q program: audits according to ISO 19011, Q visits in production, warehousing, and construction, as well as lessons learned

Follow-up of Q-relevant topics such as FQP, ITP, FAT, production start meetings, Q-gates, and documentation standards

Ongoing verification of conformity with the client's regulatory framework

Regular reporting, monitoring via key figures, and communication of escalations to sub-project management

Requirements

Completed technical degree (Civil Engineering, Geotechnics, Infrastructure) or a comparable qualification with QM experience

At least 3 years of experience in the relevant context, ideally in civil engineering for infrastructure or cable projects

Very good knowledge of QM systems, ISO 9001, and audit methodology

Experience with QMP, ITP, and test plans, as well as with standards, construction methods, earthworks and cable trenching, testing, and measuring technology

Complaint management according to the 8D method

Experience in managing service providers

Strong communication skills on the construction site, in the project team, and towards contractors and subcontractors

Assertive in quality-critical situations, structured, and resilient

Willingness to travel within Germany

Project: Major project in the field of energy infrastructure (underground cable route)

Project details

December 2026 / January 2027

until December 31, 2027, extension possible

Utilization: 1 FTE per position

Würzburg and construction offices along the route in Lower Franconia, Southern Thuringia, and Northern Baden-Württemberg

Remote share: 40% remote, 60% on-site
