Freelancer Infrastructure/Systems Engineer (m/f/d) with High Remote Share in Koblenz

Project overview

For a demanding infrastructure project, we are looking for an experienced Infrastructure/Systems Engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on Microsoft technologies. We are seeking a generalist in the area of Windows Server and hybrid infrastructures who will support both the operational aspects and the further development of the existing system landscape.

In addition to classic administration tasks, the support of a hybrid Exchange environment, collaboration with specialist departments, and the coordination of external service providers play an important role.

Responsibilities

• Administration and further development of the Windows Server landscape
• Operation and support of a hybrid IT infrastructure
• Management and optimization of Active Directory environments
• Support of a hybrid Exchange environment (On-Premises and Microsoft 365)
• Maintenance of existing file server structures
• Monitoring and further development of backup and recovery solutions in on-premises and cloud environments
• Handling complex incidents as part of 2nd level support
• Familiarization with and support of various specialist applications, such as document management, manufacturing, or warehouse management systems
• Interface function between specialist departments and external software partners
• Coordination of external service providers for maintenance, updates, and adjustments
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation for sustainable knowledge management

Requirements

You have sound experience in operating modern Microsoft infrastructures and are comfortable working between classic data center environments and cloud technologies. Furthermore, you are characterized by a structured way of working, a high degree of personal responsibility, and strong service orientation. Communication with specialist departments, manufacturers, and service providers is part of your daily routine, as is the sustainable documentation of complex IT systems.

• Several years of experience in the administration of Microsoft Windows Server
• Very good knowledge of Active Directory
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange, ideally in hybrid environments
• Knowledge in the operation of Microsoft 365 environments
• Good knowledge in the area of backup and recovery solutions
• Basic understanding of network technology
• Experience in 2nd level support of complex infrastructures
• Quick comprehension of complex system landscapes and software architectures
• Business-fluent German language skills

Nice to have

• Experience with document management systems (DMS)
• Knowledge of ERP, manufacturing, or warehouse management systems
• Experience in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
• Knowledge in collaborating with external service providers and software partners
