Head of Compliance (Interim, 6+ Months) – Belgium
Our client, a high profile leading international group, is looking for an interim Head of Compliance to lead the corporate compliance function for an initial 6 month contract. This is a senior leadership role focused on the prevention side of compliance – policy, controls, training, and due diligence frameworks – with genuine ownership of the function.
About the Role:
You will lead compliance program for the company, owning the corporate compliance management system and driving preventive programmes across human rights, anti-bribery and corruption (ABAC), and anti-money laundering (AML).
Responsibilities
- Own the corporate compliance management system and keep improving it across the jurisdictions the business operates in
- Drive the human rights agenda, including supply chain due diligence and associated reporting
- Run preventive ABAC and AML programmes – policy, controls, and monitoring
- Advise senior management and the board on compliance and regulatory questions
- Work closely with teams across the business to keep compliance practical and embedded
- Manage relationships with regulators, external counsel, and other key stakeholders
Requirements
- Fully qualified lawyer (Belgian legal expertise a real plus)
- Experience across both consulting/private practice and in-house roles, ideally at more than one organisation
- Strong knowledge of corporate compliance systems, with a focus on prevention
- Good grounding in human rights topics, ABAC, and AML
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders
