Interim Head of Service Automation

Project overview

For our client in the greater Stuttgart area, we are looking for an experienced Head of Service Automation (m/f/d) as part of an interim mandate.

In this responsible position, you will take on the technical and organizational leadership of a team of around 20 technicians and 3 project managers. With your technical expertise in PLC, Automation, HMI, and SCADA, as well as your experience in the service environment, you will ensure efficient processes, professional project execution, and high service quality.

You will maintain an overview even in a dynamic environment, set clear priorities, and ensure the targeted handling of complex challenges through structured escalation management.

Framework Conditions of the Interim Mandate

• Project Start: Immediately, at the latest beginning of January 2027
• Project Duration: Approximately 12–18 months
• Assignment: Potentially in 2–3 consecutive assignment periods of approximately six months each
• Location: Greater Stuttgart area

Responsibilities

• Technical and organizational leadership of around 20 technicians and 3 project managers in the Service Automation department
• Steering and coordination of ongoing service activities and automation projects
• Ensuring efficient processes and high service quality
• Prioritization of tasks and resources, considering customer requirements and project goals
• Professional management of escalations and solution-oriented handling of critical situations
• Support of the team with technical and organizational challenges
• Close coordination with internal and external contacts to ensure smooth service operations

• Sound technical knowledge in PLC, automation technology, HMI, and SCADA
• Several years of experience in the service environment, ideally in industrial plant construction
• Demonstrable leadership experience in managing technical teams
• Experience in pharmaceutical plant construction and understanding of the specific requirements of this industry
• Strong organizational and coordination skills
• Confident and professional demeanor, even in demanding situations
• Experience in prioritizing tasks and in professional escalation management
• High flexibility, resilience, and strong solution orientation
