Interim IT Project Manager – IT Carve-out + New IT Infrastructure Build

Responsibilities

• As-is analysis of the shared infrastructure, dependencies, and project status
• Target architecture for each subsidiary (including own M365/Entra ID tenants, network, firewall, clients, servers/cloud, backup)
• Set up and manage a separation plan with milestones, transition arrangements, and migration steps
• Create IT roadmaps for each subsidiary and a group-wide roadmap
• Plan investment and operating costs, create business cases, budget reporting to the CFO
• Tendering, make-or-buy decisions, and service provider management
• Build information security: ISMS basics, policies, risk analysis, emergency/incident response plan
• Implementation of NIS-2 (where applicable), GDPR, and cyber insurer requirements (MFA, EDR, patch management, immutable backups, admin concept, network segmentation, awareness)
• Align ticketing system and IT service processes with the new structure
• Lead the internal IT team (3 people): roles, decision-making processes, knowledge transfer

Requirements

SYSTEM LANDSCAPE:

M365, Citrix, MS Dynamics NAV (on-prem) and Business Central (cloud), ELO, LucaNet, Qlik, new server environment under construction

• 10+ years of IT experience, including several years as a project manager in building or separating IT infrastructures
• Demonstrable experience with IT carve-outs, separations, or post-merger integrations, ideally in corporate groups
• Solid expertise in Microsoft 365, Entra ID/AD, network & security, hybrid/cloud operations, backup & recovery
• Proficient in NIS-2/NIS2UmsuCG, GDPR, BSI IT-Grundschutz or ISO 27001; VdS 10000 or CIS Controls are an advantage
• Experience with requirements and questionnaires from cyber insurers
• Strong commercial understanding (IT budgeting, investment planning, contract management)
• Desirable: Experience with AI structures and in the SME/family business sector
• Leadership and moderation skills to guide a team with diverse perspectives to clear decisions
• Structured, pragmatic, hands-on; translates IT topics understandably for management
• Fluent German language skills

Our client, an internationally active, family-owned group of companies, is separating its IT infrastructure from a previously shared service structure. Each company in the group will receive its own secure IT landscape. The project is already underway and needs to be structured, prioritized, and budgeted to completion. Reporting line directly to the CFO.
