IoT Engineer

Responsibilities

· Inventory and Connection Concept: Inventory of relevant machine controls, available interfaces, and data sources; assessment of technical connectivity and derivation of an implementation concept including required gateways or adapters based on established standards and manufacturer retrofit options.

· Interface Specification: Development of interfaces between machine, central bus system, and target systems with machine manufacturers, PLC programming service providers, and system administrators. Definition of data points, transmission mechanisms, update rates, and quality requirements. For the determination of OEE availability in the connected MES, the required machine signals and their assignment to the MES states must be coordinated with the specialist department and the MES administrators.

· Technical Implementation: Configuration, implementation, and commissioning of the agreed machine connections, including data transmission, data mapping, and error handling; integration into the existing OT/IT landscape.

· Test and Operational Handover: Planning and execution of coordinated integration and functional tests; creation of operational documentation and support during handover, error analysis, and stabilization within the agreed service period.

· Technical Procurement Documents: Creation of tenders, specifications, and technical specifications for machine connection and data provision.

• Implementation competence for PLC, OPC UA, and MQTT; machine integration via gateways and adapters.
• Basic knowledge of SEMI standards.
• Integration into the bus/broker technology used; product-specific requirements upon disclosure of the target architecture.
• Interface specification and data point/signal lists; mapping of machine states to the MES state model, including timestamps and quality indicators.
• Production-related networks, automation technology, and IT security, including segmentation, access rights, certificates, and authorizations.
• Error handling for connection interruptions and restarts; differentiation between communication errors and machine downtimes.
• Integration tests, error diagnosis, and operational documentation.
