IT Operations Manager

Project overview

We are looking for an IT Operations Manager for a great client in the NRW region.

We are not looking for a classic corporate manager or a CIO who spends most of their time in steering committees, but rather a pragmatic, hands-on IT leader who enjoys working closely with people and the day-to-day business.

The company operates in a dynamic environment and is seeking candidates from a scale-up or mid-sized company background. The ability to build and develop teams and sustainably improve structures is important.

The focus is not only on processes and technologies, but above all on people – a leadership personality who develops employees, provides feedback, delegates responsibility, and successfully brings teams to the next level. Someone who also pitches in when necessary and understands operational business.

Your Focus Areas

• Leadership, coaching, and development of a partially internationally positioned IT team
• Expansion of a high-performing IT Operations and Service Management organization
• Development of your team members through regular coaching, feedback, and targeted support
• Responsibility for Service Desk, End User Services, Workplace Services, and IT Infrastructure
• Ensuring stable operations for employees at international locations
• Responsibility for Microsoft 365, Device Management, and modern workplace solutions
• Standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of existing IT services
• Management of external IT service providers and service partners
• Close collaboration with business departments and management
• Support with escalations and operational challenges in daily business
• Responsibility for budget, service quality, and supplier and contract management

Requirements

• Several years of experience as Head of IT, IT Manager, Head of IT Operations, Head of IT Services, IT Service Delivery Manager, or similar, from a scale-up or mid-sized company environment is a prerequisite!
• Demonstrable leadership experience and enjoyment in developing employees and building teams
• Experience in leading Service Desk, Support, Workplace, or IT Operations teams
• Profound knowledge in IT Operations, IT Service Management, and IT Infrastructure
• Good knowledge of Microsoft 365, Intune, Device Management, and modern workplace technologies
• Experience in building and developing IT processes and support structures
• Experience in managing external service providers and ideally internationally distributed teams
• Hands-on mentality and willingness to get involved operationally
• Structured, pragmatic, and solution-oriented approach to work
• Very good German and English language skills
• Residence in Germany, ideally in NRW
