Lead Enterprise AI Architect

Responsibilities

For a strategic AI transformation project at a leading Swiss company, we are looking for an experienced Lead Enterprise Platform Architect with a focus on AI / Generative AI.

The goal of the project is to develop an enterprise-wide, secure, and scalable AI architecture. Existing and future AI use cases across various business units, platforms, and IT environments are to be architecturally harmonized.

The focus is on defining an overarching architectural vision, designing central AI capabilities, and developing a pragmatic and economically viable roadmap.

The position offers the opportunity to significantly shape a strategically important AI architecture and actively support its implementation.

• Development and responsibility for an enterprise-wide AI/GenAI target architecture, including architectural vision, principles, and roadmap
• Analysis and structuring of existing and future AI capabilities in the areas of AI Control, AI Platform, AI Transparency, and AI Governance
• Definition of the architectural boundaries between central platform services, domain-specific solutions, and local applications
• Design of a scalable architecture for LLMs, RAG, AI Agents, and agentic systems
• Development of architectural concepts, decision-making bases, and technical standards
• Integration of Security-by-Design, data protection, Identity & Access Management, and regulatory requirements
• Conception of AI governance mechanisms, including risk classification, approval processes, and compliance
• Definition of organizational and technical requirements for central AI Shared Services
• Evaluation of architectural variants, considering economic viability, FinOps, and Total Cost of Ownership
• Development of a prioritized, feasible architecture roadmap with clear implementation stages
• Close collaboration with Enterprise Architects, Platform Architects, Security, Data Protection, and Management
• Presentation of complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in IT architecture, especially in complex enterprise environments
• Demonstrable experience with AI/GenAI architectures in large organizations
• Minimum 2 reference projects with responsibility for an overarching target architecture, including implementation stages and roadmap
• Profound understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agentic AI systems
• Knowledge of modern AI protocols and integration approaches such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A)
• Experience with capability-based architecture and federated platform models
• Experience in building AI governance structures, standards, and compliance processes
• Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements such as the EU AI Act, Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG), and information security
• Experience with Security-by-Design, Zero Trust, IAM, and data classification
• Ability to link architectural decisions with business cases, FinOps, and TCO
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent German and good English skills
• Experience in regulated large companies, e.g., from finance, energy, public transport, or administration (nice-to-have)
• Knowledge of TOGAF, ArchiMate, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, and OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications (nice-to-have)
• Experience with AI functionalities in SAP, SAP BTP, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and SaaS platforms (nice-to-have)
• Experience with modernizing existing IT landscapes and developing migration strategies (nice-to-have)
• Knowledge of AI platform architectures in Azure or AWS environments (nice-to-have)
