Linux Enterprise Engineer

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Linux Enterprise Engineer for a challenging project in the field of enterprise Linux infrastructure. You will act as a subject matter expert in a dynamic team and be responsible for key tasks in system administration and modernization.

Your main tasks include analyzing and resolving complex errors in enterprise Linux environments, planning and implementing migrations (IPv4 to IPv6), and optimizing existing system architectures for performance and security. You will modernize Linux scripts, automate operational processes using Ansible, and drive the introduction of zero-touch automation and DevOps processes. Furthermore, you will design and implement certificate-based authentication solutions and zero-trust architectures.

You will analyze and further develop open-source infrastructures, create technical documentation, and support migrations until they go live.

We expect a completed degree in computer science or a comparable qualification, as well as at least 10 years of experience with enterprise Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, Debian, SLES). At least 5 years of experience with OpenLDAP, Apache technologies, GitLab, and Jira, as well as 4 years with Ansible, are also required. Knowledge of DevOps methods, Splunk, and repository management is necessary. German (C1) and English (B1) are required.

The project runs from January 2027 to June 2028 with an option for extension. The position can be filled 95% remotely from Germany with occasional on-site appointments. Full-time engagement as a freelancer.
