Project overview

For a medium-sized consulting firm (230 employees), we are looking for a Senior Consultant (m/f/d) for the introduction of Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Scope: initially 5 PT, increase as needed (currently difficult to estimate)

Requirements

We are looking for a person who:

• Several years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation and transformation projects, ideally with multiple Dynamics applications, integrated external systems, and phased implementation
• Very good understanding of the overall Dynamics 365 architecture, especially Customer Insights, Sales, Project Operations, Business Central, and Dynamics 365 Finance
• Demonstrable experience with project-oriented Professional Services/IT service companies, ideally in the medium-sized sector
• the ability to assess solution and process proposals regarding standard adherence, best practices, and appropriateness, and to critically question unnecessary customization
• Experience with ERP/Finance, data, and integration architectures in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment, especially with Business Central and Dynamics 365 Finance and their interplay with DATEV, system leadership, data flows, interfaces, and ISV/third-party components.
• Good knowledge of various Microsoft Dynamics implementation partners and experience in the functional evaluation of solution providers.
• critically questions the assumptions and statements of implementation partners and represents a clear, comprehensible, functionally justified position,
• recognizes unnecessary complexity and unnecessary customization requests and advocates for sensible standards or best practices, even against historically grown special requirements,
• translates complex functional and technical issues understandably to decision-making level.

The project involves replacing an existing PSA system (Professional Services Automation) and building an integrated Microsoft Dynamics 365 landscape. The goal is a consistent process and data landscape along Lead-to-Project-to-Cash. The replacement and implementation will be carried out in phases.

As of today, we plan to use the modules Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, Sales and Project Operations, Business Central, and Dynamics 365 Finance. Financial accounting will initially continue to use DATEV; in the medium term, the question is whether DATEV functions can also be mapped within Dynamics.

Role and Tasks

We are not looking for a project manager or implementation partner, but for a technically and functionally independent sparring partner who will support the project selectively and:

The collaboration is flexible and needs-based. Continuous high availability is not required; however, with successful collaboration, a larger consulting volume may be possible in the further course of the project.

• critically question our previous assumptions regarding architecture and suggest alternatives if necessary,
• assess the solution proposals and statements of potential implementation partners from a functional and technical perspective,
• support with questions of architecture, methodology, and the selection of the implementation partner,
• assess the commercial and contractual framework conditions of a Dynamics introduction, point out risks, and judge their market-standard design.
