PMO for SAP S/4HANA Release Upgrade, Part-time, Stuttgart Area

Project overview

For a medium-sized company, we are looking for an experienced PMO to support an upcoming release upgrade within SAP S/4HANA. The methodology for the upgrade is predefined and proven. We are not looking for someone to build a PMO from scratch, but rather someone who brings structure to the daily project routine, keeps all stakeholders together, and acts as a central point of contact for business departments and the project team.

The project team comprises around 40 to 50 people: internal consultants and developers, external partners, technicians, and testers from IT and business departments.

Responsibilities

• Project organization: Plan and coordinate appointments, workshops, and meetings
• Status reporting and project documentation
• Test organization in integration testing and UAT, including coordination of internal test teams and testing business departments
• Support in the preparation of cutover and go-live
• Stakeholder management: Communicate IT topics understandably to non-IT-savvy business departments and involve stakeholders bindingly
• Evaluation and further development of the project and test management tools used (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Planner)
• Lessons Learned and preparation of the project structure as a template for further transformation projects

• Several years of experience as a PMO in IT or ERP projects of comparable size, ideally in three to five projects
• Experience in organizing test phases (integration testing, UAT)
• Strong communication skills, confident demeanor, and the ability to motivate stakeholders in a friendly but firm manner to deliver
• Native-level German, good English skills
• SAP knowledge, especially from S/4HANA upgrades or release changes, is a clear plus
• Experience with Jira or comparable tools

Project details

• Start: 01/15/2027 with reduced capacity (1 to 2 days per week), ramp-up from February/March 2027
• Duration: until approx. August 2027 including Hypercare, option for extension
• Workload: average 40 to 50 percent, at times higher during test phases and around go-live
• Location: predominantly remote, planned on-site appointments in the Stuttgart area (workshops, test weeks, go-live)
