The Position

Your contribution to Venlo's energy transition

As a policy officer for the energy transition, you will work with the team on the sustainability of the municipality of Venlo. With your focus on sustainable energy generation and the necessary infrastructure, you will make an essential contribution to the energy transition. You will support the policy advisor and the team on current, relevant dossiers, ensuring the correct policy support and coordination.

• You will provide support in the development and implementation of policy advice regarding sustainable energy generation and the associated infrastructure.
• You will work on specific and defined policy assignments, such as drafting policy notes and reports on the transition to sustainable energy production and infrastructure.
• You will support the policy advisor in preparing advisory documents and decision-making regarding important dossiers within the energy transition, with an emphasis on generation and infrastructure.
• You will provide input and contribute ideas on translating policy goals into concrete plans and proposals for the municipality.
• You will help the team by introducing current and interesting dossiers in the field of generation and infrastructure, and ensure proper coordination between internal and external parties.
• You will monitor relevant developments in the region and national policy and translate these into relevant actions for the municipality of Venlo.
• A completed HBO or WO education in, for example, (Technical) Public Administration, Sustainability, Environment, or a comparable field.
• Demonstrable experience with policy development within a municipal organization, preferably focused on sustainability, heat, energy generation, and/or infrastructure.
• Experience in drafting policy documents and reports and demonstrable experience with municipal decision-making processes.
• Thorough knowledge of the energy transition, sustainable energy generation, and the associated infrastructure.
• You have an interest in current and innovative policy dossiers related to energy generation and infrastructure.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to report and advise clearly and persuasively.
• You have a proactive work attitude and can effectively switch between various internal and external stakeholders.
• A clear and challenging job with interesting and complex dossiers within a dynamic team.
