Job description

The Project Leader is responsible for the rollout of Local Passive Infrastructure for ICT services within the Defense Real Estate domain. This role involves managing the entire project lifecycle, from planning and execution to quality control and handover, ensuring alignment with client needs and project timelines.

Project overview

Assignment Description

The project leader is responsible for the rollout of Local Passive Infrastructure for ICT services in the Real Estate domain of Defense.

Activities

The project leader must have good communication skills and be able to work with installation teams and check the work. It is not purely project management, but also performing checks on the work activities. This means that cable traces must be checked before handover, and checks must be performed above ceiling tiles and in crawl spaces. The project leader is also responsible for the administration of his/her environment and its transfer.

Background of the assignment

The project organization consists of one project manager, multiple project leaders (who manage the daily teams and client contact) and multiple PMO officers (who together form the supporting project office). The executing installation teams come from various suppliers and currently comprise around 100 people. The project is carried out within COMMIT/JIVC, but falls under Defense Real Estate Management in terms of accountability. The project operates based on a covenant between the Central Government Real Estate Company, Defense Real Estate Management, and Joint IV Command.

Within this covenant, the project team independently carries out the work. Precisely because of the necessity of this structure, this assignment cannot be placed within an existing permanent department. The end result of Project LPI is standardized data cabling, related electrical provisions, and patch panels within the in-scope locations and buildings. The project team also repairs fire-resistant seals and replaces or installs patch panels and switches if necessary. All this in accordance with the client's guidelines. The project deals with various stakeholders and a large team of installers.

The project office supports the LPI project manager and project leaders and is therefore partly responsible for the progress of the teams. Standing still is not an option. In summary, the project office ensures: timely available information, access/rights, materials and prior communication, and correct/complete quality checks, reports, certification, and handover to the client afterwards.
