Job description

Experienced freelance project manager needed to build a digital corporate client portal for a large insurance company. The role involves end-to-end project leadership from conception to launch, requiring strong insurance knowledge and experience with similar digital portal projects.

Project overview

For our client, a large insurance company, we are looking for an experienced freelance project manager (m/f/d) to build a digital corporate client portal.

Note: This request is exclusively for self-employed freelancers. Permanent employees of consulting firms or other service providers cannot be considered.

The portal will allow companies to centrally manage their insurance affairs in the future – from an overview of policies and insurance documents to digital service processes for fleets, buildings, and other commercial risks.

We are looking for a project manager who has successfully managed a comparable project and understands the practical requirements of corporate clients. You will combine in-depth insurance knowledge with the ability to structure functional requirements and manage implementation through to launch.

Responsibilities

  • Project leadership for the development of the corporate client portal – from functional conception and technical implementation to launch and handover to operations
  • Structuring and managing project scope, deadlines, budget, resources, quality, and dependencies
  • Developing and validating requirements together with corporate clients, insurance departments, and other stakeholders
  • Designing cross-line-of-business customer processes, e.g., for policy overviews, change notifications, proof of insurance, document management, and claims notifications
  • Consideration of different user groups and company structures, as well as suitable role and authorization concepts
  • Development of a prioritized implementation plan with a clearly defined initial feature set and further expansion stages
  • Managing collaboration between business departments, product management, UX, IT architecture, development, and external implementation partners
  • Coordinating integration with existing contract, claims, and document systems in collaboration with technical leads
  • Preparing decisions, active risk and stakeholder management, and regular reporting to clients and steering committees
  • Planning and managing tests, functional acceptances, and rollout

Requirements

Interested?

Please send us your current project profile, including your availability, your remote hourly rate, and conditions for on-site assignments.

Highlight your comparable portal projects: target audience, insurance lines covered, functions implemented, your area of responsibility, and project status achieved.

Thank you

  • Several years of experience in independently managing complex digitalization and IT projects in the insurance sector
  • Demonstrable experience in building or significantly developing an insurance portal for corporate clients, with responsibility for implementation
  • In-depth understanding of commercial insurance products and associated contract, change, and claims processes; particularly relevant are motor vehicle/fleet insurance and commercial property/building insurance
  • Practical experience in gathering and prioritizing requirements from the business side, e.g., in discussions with insurance managers, fleet management, or commercial functions
  • Ability to translate customer needs into understandable functional requirements and actionable project decisions
  • Understanding of integrating digital portals into existing insurance landscapes, as well as data quality and access authorizations
  • Experience in managing interdisciplinary teams and external service providers, as well as handling diverse interests at both functional and management levels
  • Confident demeanor, structured working style, and the ability to communicate functional and technical contexts appropriately to the audience
  • Willingness for occasional on-site appointments in North Rhine-Westphalia and Northern Germany
