With this request, we are looking for a Project Manager Transition/Infrastructure

For a demanding IT infrastructure project, we are looking for a very experienced Senior IT Project Manager / Transition Manager (m/f/d) on short notice.

The focus of the project is the transition from an existing IT infrastructure service provider to a new provider. We are looking for a very senior personality who will take overall responsibility for the transition, act as a central point of contact between all parties involved, and reliably manage the project at both technical and management levels.

Important: Regular and high on-site presence in Berlin is expressly desired for this role. The project manager should work closely with the stakeholders involved, internal responsible persons, and the previous and future IT service provider, and ensure direct and rapid coordination, especially in critical project phases.

Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for the transition from an existing to a new IT infrastructure service provider

Central point of contact and liaison between the previous service provider, the new provider, and internal stakeholders

Planning and management of the individual transition phases

Definition, tracking, and ensuring of agreed milestones and deliverables

Management of dependencies between infrastructure, architecture, providers, and internal departments

Ensuring a structured handover of business-critical IT infrastructures and services

Coordination and management of the external service providers involved

Close coordination with all relevant stakeholders on-site

Identification, assessment, and active management of project risks

Escalation management for critical issues and deviations

Regular status, risk, and progress reporting to the Management Board

Preparation and execution of management and steering meetings

Ensuring transparency regarding project progress, risks, dependencies, and necessary decisions

Requirements

Many years of experience in managing complex IT infrastructure and transformation projects

Demonstrable experience with IT provider transitions / service provider changes / service transitions

Experience in managing the transition from an existing to a new IT infrastructure service provider

Very good understanding of IT infrastructures and IT architectures, especially in business-critical environments

Ideally, a previous technical background as an IT/Infrastructure Architect with a later move into project management

Experience in managing external providers and complex stakeholder structures

Very strong skills in project management, milestone planning, risk, and escalation management

Experience in communication and reporting at C-level or Management Board level

Ability to prepare technical issues for management and to drive necessary decisions

Confident stakeholder management at different hierarchical levels

Strong communication, moderation, and assertiveness skills

Structured, pragmatic, and results-oriented way of working

Willingness for a high on-site component in Berlin is mandatory

Profile Sought

Candidates who originally come from a technical infrastructure or architecture background and have developed into Senior IT Project Management / Transition Management over the course of their careers are particularly interesting.

We are explicitly not looking for a purely administrative project manager, but for an experienced personality who understands complex technical contexts, can manage different service providers on an equal footing, and at the same time communicates confidently with management and C-level.

Personal presence in Berlin is an important part of the role in order to be close to all relevant stakeholders during the transition and to be able to manage decisions, risks, and escalations quickly and directly.
