QA Engineer - Functional & Technical - Backend & API Testing (7+ years)

Mission Context:

The client is looking for a senior functional and technical QA engineer for its Trading Systems team. This position will contribute to essential quality assurance activities, including standalone testing, backend and API testing, test automation, and continuous improvement of QA practices.

The senior functional and technical QA engineer will help define objectives, scope, acceptance criteria, and risk-based test coverage, while ensuring the validation of functional behavior through manual and automated testing. This role requires the ability to drive testing activities with minimal supervision and provide clear visibility into progress, risks, coverage, and test results.

The Trading Systems team operates in Porto and Paris and supports critical trading applications, the trading platform.

This position requires close collaboration with developers, functional analysts, team leads, project managers, and other quality assurance contributors to ensure a high level of reliability, efficiency, and delivery quality.

One of the main expectations for this senior profile is to mentor junior team members, contribute to the improvement of quality assurance processes, and leverage AI tools in daily activities to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency, while applying professional judgment and validation to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Objectives and Deliverables:

• Test Strategy and QA Direction
• Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies for standalone testing
• Define test objectives, scope, and acceptance criteria
• Identify and prioritize test cases based on risks and business impact
• Drive testing activities with minimal supervision
• Contribute to defining effective QA approaches for complex backend systems and API testing contexts.
• Test Execution, Defect Management, and Reporting
• Execute manual and automated tests to validate functional behavior
• Reproduce, analyze, document, and track defects
• Monitor fixes and verify resolutions
• Provide clear reports on progress, risks, coverage, and test results
• Prepare production validation and support quality decision-making
• Contribution to Automation, Tooling, and Engineering
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of automated test coverage
• Utilize Python, Linux, Git, Jenkins pipelines, BDD, Xray/Jira, and associated tools to support testing activities.
• Contribute to the creation of backend/API test resources, test data preparation, and database-related validation, where applicable.
• Leverage AI tools to facilitate test design, test case generation, defect analysis, documentation, reporting, automation development, and knowledge acquisition.
• Collaboration, Mentoring, and Process Improvement
• Collaborate closely with developers, functional analysts, team leads, and project managers
• Mentor junior team members and support their development in QA practices
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA automation processes, standards, and practices
• Promote structured testing, traceability, and quality-driven delivery practices
