Project overview

Initial Situation

For one of our clients, we are looking for support in the further development of a central analysis platform based on Microsoft Azure. A significant part of the existing data logic is currently in SAP BW 7.5 (on Oracle) as well as in Oracle SQL. This logic is to be analyzed and migrated to Azure Databricks. We are looking for an experienced consultant who can deeply analyze the legacy SAP world (BW, ABAP, Oracle, SLT) and also take responsibility for the technical implementation in Azure Databricks (Spark SQL, PySpark).

• Profound experience in analyzing SAP program code (ABAP, ABAP OO)
• Confident handling of SAP data structures (tables, views, data dictionary) and underlying data models
• Functional and technical analysis of existing SAP transactions and programs
• Error analysis in SAP (debugging, tracing, performance analysis)
• Practical experience in SAP BW: analysis of data flows (DataSources, InfoProviders, transformations, DTPs)
• Oracle SQL: analysis of complex statements (joins, aggregations, subqueries, views)
• Several years of experience with SAP SLT: conception, configuration, and operation of replication scenarios, replication rules, error and performance analysis, integration into landscapes with multiple source and target systems
• Azure Databricks: implementation of program logic in notebooks with Spark SQL and PySpark for large data volumes
• Faithful migration of SAP/BW/Oracle logic to Databricks workloads, including testing, documentation, and performance optimization
• Experience with Azure components in the Databricks environment (Storage, Identity/Access Management, Cluster Configuration)
• Agile collaboration (refinements, estimations, planning based on features/user stories)
• Experience with SAP BW/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA as source systems
• Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps
• Consulting on authorization concepts
• Test management across component, system, integration, and acceptance testing
• Experience in the utility industry
• Structured documentation and knowledge transfer to users and colleagues

Responsibilities

Framework Data

• Business analysis and implementation planning, including effort estimation in refinements
• Analysis of source code in SAP BW/4HANA and S/4HANA
• Use case analysis and re-engineering from SAP BW 7.5 (on Oracle) to Azure Databricks
• Configuration of SAP SLT and connection of new data sources
• Transfer of functional requirements into a technical specification (DevOps)
• Consulting on authorization concepts
• Programming and configuration on the target platform: data modeling, integration, preparation
• Creation and review of deployment packages, consulting on deployments in acceptance and production environments
• Test cases, test data, test execution, and test reports across all test levels
• Error analysis, bug fixes, impact analysis, and regression tests
• Briefing of the client, early life support
• Knowledge transfer (transition within one month)
