Senior AI Engineer Retail

Project overview

For our client in the retail industry, we are looking for a Senior AI Engineer (m/f/d) with retail experience, starting immediately.

Background

Senior AI Engineer for AI-powered solutions end-to-end – from joint conception with stakeholders to a productively deployed and usable result. Furthermore, they will impart AI competencies and best practices to the team and be responsible for building the organizational and technical foundations for the use of AI, for example in the areas of LLM observability, AI gateway platforms, billing, deployment, and operational processes.

Responsibilities

• Development and productive operation of LLM-based solutions, including prompt engineering, evaluation concepts, guardrails, and agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, ADK)
• Sound practical experience with central components of modern AI platforms, including LLM observability (e.g., Langfuse), LLM gateways (e.g., LiteLLM), as well as concepts for deployment, cost control, and billing
• Very good knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as well as Vertex AI and Agent Platform
• Conception, development, and productive deployment of MCP servers
• Experience in machine learning, particularly in classification, regression, and reinforcement learning, as well as in data engineering with technologies such as dbt and Snowflake
• Sound understanding of AI governance, regulatory requirements (including EU AI Act), and ethical aspects of artificial intelligence
• Several years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer in modern backend architectures, for example with Java/Spring Boot, Python, or Kotlin, including REST-based APIs, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
• Confident use of modern web frameworks (e.g., React) for developing user-friendly frontends with high usability, without focusing on frontend engineering

Requirements

• Many years of experience in agile product development environments, particularly in requirements analysis, prioritization, and elaboration of user stories, as well as in independently conducting workshops for technical and business solution finding with stakeholders.
• Experience with Product Information Management (PIM) systems as well as e-commerce and marketplace platforms (e.g., Mirakl)
• Sound understanding of authorization concepts and role-based access control (RBAC) in API-first architectures
