Senior Backend / Workflow Engineer

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend / Workflow Engineer to develop and design services, workflows, and orchestration platforms for large-scale enterprise products. This is not a classic API development role, but an opportunity to work on the systems that enable modern enterprise transformation.

Your responsibilities include developing scalable backend services and APIs, building workflow engines and state management systems, designing robust enterprise integrations, and modeling complex approval processes and long-term transactions. You will implement event-driven architectures, realize asynchronous processing, and build secure, traceable systems with high availability. Close collaboration with AI, product, and engineering teams, as well as influencing platform architecture and engineering standards, are also part of this role.

We expect at least 6 years of experience in backend software development, strong knowledge in Python, Go, Java, C#, or Node.js, and proven expertise in developing production-ready APIs and services. Profound knowledge in data modeling and relational databases, experience with event-driven and distributed systems, as well as container and cloud-native development are required. A deep understanding of system reliability, security, and scalability is essential.

Experience with workflow platforms such as Temporal or Camunda, message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ, ERP and SAP integrations, as well as Kubernetes and cloud platforms is advantageous.
