Job description

Seeking a Senior Delivery Manager to finalize and stabilize a Data Warehouse (DWH) refactoring project for a collective insurance subsidiary. The role involves managing development, testing, and deployment in a complex, high-pressure environment.

Project overview

Our client in the Insurance sector is looking for a Senior Delivery Manager.

Mission Description:

Context of the mission:

As part of the replacement of the management tool for our Collective Insurance subsidiary, a structuring program for Data Warehouse (DWH) refactoring is underway:

This DWH feeds critical uses for the Finance, Actuarial, and Sales departments (approximately 400 reports), as well as services exposed to our clients and partners (brokers, insurers).

The switch to the new management tool was completed in July 2026. Data workstreams are still being finalized and stabilized:

This project is taking place in a complex context: high demands on delivery dates, very sparse documentation, low mastery of existing systems to be migrated, team fatigue and tension. Proven ability to work in difficult contexts and very high stress resistance are expected.

The internal resources who have been managing the project until now are being reassigned to other workstreams. Their involvement will now be limited to occasional expert requests: the consultant will need to quickly acquire their knowledge.

Objective of the mission:

The project is in the finalization and stabilization phase: the mission consists of finishing and making it reliable, not redesigning. The consultant takes responsibility for delivery on the DWH scope: they will manage both development and testing, up to the business deliverables (coordination with impacted business teams expected).

They will form a pair with the senior functional data architect: the delivery manager will manage the schedule, the development and testing teams, and the production deployments; the functional architect will handle the design, specifications, and business rules.

The context requires a very operational and organized profile, demonstrating great pragmatism. They will structure the management without making it cumbersome and will intervene themselves on subjects: impact analyses, anomaly qualification, SQL queries for control and verification...

Missions:

Project and development management

Testing management

Stakeholders:

The consultant will work with a significant number of stakeholders:

Expected Profile:

Skills / Essential Qualities:

DATAWAREHOUSE

  • Refactoring of feeding flows
  • New data modeling and mappings
  • Evolution of business rules
  • Provision of business reporting and data via various tools (e.g., April ON broker portal)
  • Remediation and stabilization of the already delivered scope (products, contracts & beneficiaries core);
  • Development and production deployment of feeding flows for the Benefits, Claims, Contributions, and Commissions scopes;
  • Porting and migration of reports and uses for the scope not yet delivered;
  • Development of new processes (e.g., S/P calculation).
  • Establish an inventory and a project completion plan upon arrival: remaining work per scope, backlog of anomalies, major risks, and decisions to be made.
  • Plan and manage the progressive provision of all reports and data necessary for internal management (sales, finance, market) as well as for our external partners (brokers and insurers), with a focus on delivering the various deliverables as quickly as possible (project significantly delayed) – without compromising quality but by being proactive on possible simplifications (dialogue with business departments possible).
  • Manage the development and testing team (internal and external, approximately 10 people) in terms of deliverables, deadlines, and quality, in coordination with their managers. This requires very close (intra-day) management.
  • Conduct analyses on priority topics: impact of an anomaly, evaluation and treatment of discrepancies with a third-party system (e.g., accounting) or with the existing system.
  • Lead governance at all levels, operational and program: daily team meeting, daily meeting with the editor, bi-weekly meeting with program management, task forces in case of incidents.
  • Prepare and secure production deployments: go/no-go criteria, production deployment schedule.
  • Sort and prioritize the anomaly backlog by business impact, the first task of the mission, and organize its resolution.
  • Take over and rationalize the existing testing strategy: technical testing, functional testing, regression testing, and reconciliation between the old and new management tools.
  • Complete test plans and cases with the functional architect (lot 2), to a level of detail that allows the testing team to execute them without interpretation.
  • Plan and manage testing campaigns: assignment of cases, monitoring of progress and pass rate.
  • Lead the anomaly cycle: qualification, prioritization, follow-up committees, verification of corrections. Close collaboration with the editor and other program stakeholders is necessary to advance anomalies outside the DWH scope.
  • Implement a reusable regression testing baseline, automated if possible, on critical flows and indicators.
  • Issue, with the business, the end-of-testing acceptance opinions and lead the go/no-go committees.
  • Sponsor: CDO and Head of Data Platform & Engineering / Data Factory.
  • Partner: Senior functional data architect.
  • Business departments of the subsidiary: Finance, Sales, Markets, Brokerage.
  • IT of the subsidiary: CIO and project team.
  • Program management (program closely monitored by the COMEX).
  • Editor of the new management tool.
  • Subsidiary experts (e.g., management team) and former project team members, for occasional support.
  • At least 12 years of experience, including 5 in data, BI, or DWH project management.
  • Very operational and organized profile, capable of producing analyses and SQL queries himself/herself; pragmatism and prioritization skills. The position does not suit a PMO profile.
  • Proven experience in managing migration or system refactoring projects, with large-scale data reconciliation. Experience in taking over a troubled project is a strong asset.
  • Significant experience in test management: testing strategy, campaign management, anomaly management.
  • Mastery of SQL, modeling, and concepts of a DWH in personal insurance.
  • Experience in joint management of development and testing, in high-pressure contexts.
  • Posture: resilience in the face of the program, decision-making skills, and extreme rigor in monitoring and escalating alerts.
  • Knowledge of the subsidiary's business (collective personal insurance: health and provident) and back-office processes is appreciated.
