With your energy, it's possible
You will perform strategic environmental management for complex reinforcements, expansions, and new construction of high and medium voltage substations.
You will bring together the interests of local residents, governments, TenneT, and internal disciplines and translate them into a feasible approach.
You will have the space to direct strategic choices that are decisive for the energy network in Limburg.
This is how you will tackle this challenge
In Limburg, Enexis and TenneT are rapidly expanding and reinforcing the electricity grid. Within the HS/MS Zuid area team, you will work on complex expansions and new construction of HS/MS substations. As a strategic environmental manager, you will ensure that interests, opportunities, and risks are taken into account in location choices, design, planning, and decision-making in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
You analyze the power dynamics and translate interests, opportunities, and risks into a clear environmental and stakeholder strategy.
You build relationships with governments, companies, interest groups, and other key players and organize targeted participation.
You advise the project team on administrative and societal feasibility and influence choices regarding location, design, scope, and planning.
You bring together environmental management, spatial planning, permits, land affairs, and communication within E&O.
You coordinate the stakeholder approach, participation, and administrative line with TenneT for joint projects.
You monitor agreements, risks, and dependencies in the environmental file, advise on strategic choices, and escalate in a timely manner when support, decision-making, or executability is under pressure.
You focus primarily on planning and preparation: from preliminary research and location selection to the decision-making required to make the project executable. During the realization phase, you remain involved at a strategic level with changes, escalations, administrative matters, and agreements with the environment; the daily management of the execution is not your responsibility.
This is how you approach it
You oversee the power dynamics and look ahead. You understand diverse interests, recognize administrative and societal sensitivities, and translate them into a clear direction for the project. You are a strong discussion partner for project management, executives, governments, and TenneT, and you know when to connect, influence, or escalate. You easily switch between strategic advice and concrete agreements, maintain an overview, and ensure that decisions and commitments are carefully recorded.
Furthermore, you have:
HBO or WO work and thinking level.
At least 3 years of relevant experience with strategic environmental management in complex spatial, infrastructural, or energy projects, where you have demonstrably contributed to location choices, administrative decision-making, participation strategy, or the creation of societal support.
Experience with administrative processes, strategic stakeholder management, and collaboration with governments and other public or private partners.
The ability to understand technical information and translate it into understandable terms for external stakeholders.
You put your shoulders to the wheel with...
Your colleagues from the HS/MS Zuid area team within the Energy System & Environment department. The team works on the spatial integration and environmental feasibility of HS/MS substations in the southern Netherlands. In this role, your focus is on the province of Limburg. You will work closely with other environmental managers, spatial planning lawyers, colleagues from land affairs, permits, and environmental communication, HS/MS advisors, project and portfolio management, and PMO.
Outside the team, you will work closely with technical project teams, Asset Management, Realization, Limburg municipalities, the province of Limburg, Water Board Limburg, research agencies, and TenneT.
You will be given a lot of freedom and responsibility in projects that are visible and socially relevant. At the same time, you are not alone. Within each project, you work with skilled professionals from technology and the environment. You are the connecting link between the project and the outside world and ensure that signals from the environment become part of choices and decision-making at the right time. Professional environmental management makes the difference between delay and progress, especially in these large substation projects.
